College Radio

Besides our very own Sarah Lawrence radio programs on WSLC, one of the most college student-oriented stations on the East Coast has to be WXPN. It’s a non-profit public radio station that broadcasts from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, most famous for the World Cafe and Y-Rock (my personal favorite). The website even has a blog.

I’ve discovered some of my favorite artists by listening to this station, including Fujiya & Miyagi, Sea Wolf, Bloc Party, and Lily Allen. The best part about XPN is that they seem to instinctively know which virtually unknown artists are going to hit it big before they actually do, letting listeners proudly say to their friends, “I knew about [insert artist name here] before all of you.” You can be sure that when I’m driving around in my old-school ’93 Volvo, I’m always listening to XPN.

XPN streams live 24/7 from their website.
