Barack Obama’s success in winning the presidency is a harbinger of the times to come. The United States is deep in the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression, the wars are ongoing in Iraq and Afghanistan – but there is hope now. The screams and cheering I heard around campus upon the announcement of Obama’s election signify a new dawn for not only the United States of America, but the world.
