The latest on Student Life. We continued discussion on the use of global e-mails and how to make the daily e-mail more affective. It was brought up that the global e-mails are being used primarily by faculty and administration. It was decided and passed to write a letter to the Deans asking for careful deliberation when approving global e-mails.
The global e-mail asking for students and staff to donate clothes and books at the SLCU drive in Dec. was rescinded.
Permission to have students sing resistance songs on Human Rights Day Dec. 10th from 1-2 in the Pub and Bates was approved.
Sustainable SLC request for a pub table for a fundraiser Nov. 12, 1-3 pm was approved as was their fundraiser.
Banner for QVC’s gender fuck week, Banner for QVC’s event for the band the Shondes, and banner for QVC’s guest speaker Kate Bornstein were approved.
SSSF was approved for the following events for Homecoming Nov. 14th:
To hold an outdoor Pep Rally, 4:30 pm on South Lawn, to build excitement for the Homecoming Game. Captains of SLC sports teams will report on completed seasons & the men’s basketball team will be introduced. There be campy activities, like tug of war and a cakewalk. Event to be approved pending that it will not interfere with classes held at that time. To hold a bake sale and fundraiser before the Homecoming Game. The game starts at 7:30 pm and the bake sale will be held before the game in the sports ctr lobby. Voluntary donations will also be solicited. To decorate the handrail going down Bates Hill with balloons & streamers for the Homecoming Dance, 8:30 pm – 2am (this includes set-up and clean-up). To hold a fundraiser at the Homecoming Dance, 10:00 pm -2:00 am, Blue Room. Will be taking and selling photographs. To have a campus wide game of capture the flag Tuesday the 11th on the North lawn and Samson Field.Blood Drive discussion continued with voices for and against the lifting of the ban. It was proposed to have the committee make decisions on possible activist events on campus before deciding on the ban. No motion’s were moved during the meeting. Discussion will continue next week starting at 12:15, we ENCOURAGE EVERYONE who can make it to come to the meeting. There is also a survey being done.
