Hey!
In our today’s meeting, November 17th, we discussed the budgets for SLC Gospel Choir, and Solidarity Club
Because we only had two budgets the meeting finished early, the entire SAS got into a discussion about inconsistency and contradictions (more below). Gospel Choir which brought back a budget they had previously submitted for $468 transportation and instruction fees was FUNDED IN FULL.
Solidarity Club asked for $244 for a meet and greet with Hill House tenants with coffee, tea, and snacks provided by Flik. This fee comes out to $6.10/person which is Flik’s general rate. The event is to be at Slonim Living Room though we recommended that it be moved to the Hill House lobby for better accessibility of the elderly tenants. In the end, we ended up FUNDING $183 which is for 30 people, down from the 40 they asked for. We found that this was a good estimation of the amount of people who will be there.
After all the budgets were done, SAS had a long and — as of right now — non-productive discussion about our inconsistensies and the appeals by some clubs. Because Gospel Coir had already submitted this budget it was thought that this was an appeal. And the question of whether this is appropriate for SAS to look at again was asked. It was decided, though, that the discussion would continue at another time and the meeting was adjourned.
In any case, I hope that all students will attend not only SAS meetings, but all Senate meetings to have their voice heard about issues and events important to them.
